How to extend a passport?

Has your passport almost expired? You can get a new passport at the Embassy if you are registered in the consular population registers. Follow the procedure for your registration.

After registering in the population register of our Embassy, you will be able to make an appointment using the Embassy's eAppointment system. In that system, just indicate the subject of your appointment and select an available time slot. Afterwards, you will receive an automatic e-mail confirming all the details of your appointment.

The consular fee for delivering a new passport of 34 pages is € 75

To know how to apply for a new passport at the Embassy, please visit the website of the FPS Foreign Affairs.

Points of attention:

  • All Belgians from the age of 6 must appear in person to apply for a passport. This appearance is necessary for the collection of their biometric data (photo and fingerprints).
  • Minor children must have the consent of both parents to apply for a passport.
  • It normally takes 4-8 weeks to obtain a new passport.

What to do in case of loss or theft?

  1. Immediately notify DocStop in Belgium (+32 2 518 21 23) to cancel your eID and protect you from fraudulent use.
  2. Report the loss or theft to the local police. Request a certificate confirming the loss/theft.

If your passport was stolen/lost during your trip, you may receive a provisional travel document to travel back to Belgium. You will need proof of loss or theft from the local police (see above). Please contact the consular department of the Embassy.

You lost your passport or e-ID in Armenia ? Contact the consular department of the Embassy. If you meet the conditions, the issue of an Emergency Travel Document will be arranged by another European embassy in Yerevan.
